YOUR MISSION
Module IV
Module IV
(5 PAGES MINIMUM)
To answer the question “Who am I?” you need to reflect on your story and contemplate it. Your mission cannot be separated from your story. Your story, not your whims, defines your mission. Delve into your past and discern its meaning. You have a story to tell. Contemplate your life and fate and find the appropriate words to speak about it.
Write about
“You are a man or a woman with a history and a memory. Your story is not only about you: it is also about the people who live in you, so to speak, because their influence on you has been powerful. You are not a monad closed in on itself and satisfied with its own self-sufficiency. You are not alone, and you are not only ‘yourself.’ Your story is not a limitation, but a strength. It is a light which allows you to interpret reality with depth and originality, and a rock that gives you the energy and the security necessary to make magnanimous decisions. Who are you? Where do you come from? People who can answer these questions with confidence and aplomb are leaders. Their heart is strong. They have a clear direction in life and they feel the comforting presence of those who live in them…
Your story must be dramatic, poetic, symbolic, and short. Dramatic, to make it attractive to you and others (you must discover its central theme or idea). Poetic, to capture the greatness of little things. Symbolic, to make it universal and unforgettable. Short, to focus on that which is important.” (Alexander Havard)
To discover your mission, ask yourself two questions:
1. Who am I? (What is my story and what is my talent?)
2. What is the cultural or social challenge I am called to respond to with passion and dedication?
Knowledge of self and of the world yield the basic information necessary to discover a mission.
